History of Chaturvedi Family

A Chaturvedi also known as Chaubey (from Sanskrit caturvedin from catur "four" and vedin "knowing", also caturvidya) is one who has learned all four Vedas.^[1]

It is also an Indian surname.

In Jaipur, Rajasthan, the Chaturvedi community celebrated the first Chaturvedi youth festival on December 24-25, 2006. It was organized by Akhil Bharatiya Chaturvedi, Yuva Prakoshtha and Rajasthan Yuva Sabha, with about 2000 members of the Chaturvedi community attending.

Originated from Mathura, West part of Uttar Pradesh, Chaturvedi Community is very small. It is said that there 4000 major families of Chaturvedi exsists. Know for worship of Lord Krishna, since Mathura is Lord Krishna's birth place, the sentiments are of friendships.

The religion having unique rules and regulations for living life. Janeu or Yagyopavit Sanskar or Theared cerimonies are supreme events once in a lifetime of any Chaturvedi. It is a local saying that Birbal was a Chaturvedi. A big history, which is hidden, still there in the local stories.

Chaturvedies are vegetarians and do not eat onion and garlic. What ever they eat, they offer it to Lord Krishna as bhog. Makhan Lal Chaturvedi was a great poet in hindi. Barsane lal Chaturvedi, Dr. Vishnu Virat Chaturvedi are some of the great poets and writers in hindi literature.

They in politics, bureaucrcy, scientists, and well ahead in acedemic activities. Majority of them are Chartered Accountants. D. N. Chaturvedi head of Chaturvedi and Shah, auditors for Reliance Industries are one of the professionals given by Chaturvedi Samaj. Manjari Chaturvedi, a famous sufi kathak dancer belongs to the community.

Chaturvedi intermarry only from the community.
